Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American musician and singer. She was the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On the 21st of October, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP on the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued uploading her music on the internet, including her self-released single Bound. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team later in the year, as he wanted Rihanna to work together on a few references. She officially was signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was the result of her participation to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On October 21, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed on her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening performance. Also, she was featured in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music video followed then followed by a short video in September. In November, she released her singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two more singles were released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on the 26th of February, 2019 to accompany her debut album with the same title. The music video premiered on February 20, 2019 to accompany the track. Within the first period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. She supported 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
